But his recent uncontained outburst in reaction to the supreme court verdict of the gubernatorial elections in both Rivers State and Akwa-Ibom State respectively, has raised dust in my mind as to the deceptive nature of Itse Sagay.
Hear him.......
"The judgments were very perverse, particularly relating to Akwa-Ibom and Rivers. Everybody knows that there were no elections in those two states."
"Everybody knows that people like Wike climbed into the governorship seat over the dead bodies and over blood of human beings. There were no elections, they wrote the results, the evidence is there."
I find it distasteful that such a man who has carved a niche for himself will stoop so low to entangle himself and roll in the murky waters of Nigerian politics.
It's disheartening to watch a revered man of high pedigree and enviable intellect sacrifice his brains, legacy and name on the altar of sycophancy.
First, when he said "everybody knows that there were no elections", did he mean the entirety of Rivers State people, including myself who exercised our franchise on that day?
There were no elections?
Where was Itse Sagay on the day of Rivers State gubernatorial elections?
Did he vote in Rivers State?
Was he in anyway an INEC adhoc staff?
Is he overruling the entirety of the LGAs where elections were held and results collated?
I and the majority of Rivers State people who voted on that day definitely and obviously do not constitute Itse Sagay's "everybody."
Irrespective of the clear case of massive rigging with underage voters during the presidential elections by Buhari and APC, and it's unconstitutionality, Itse Sagay remains selectively blind as he's oblivious of the indiscretions of his Oga at the top.
Secondly, he rants that Governor Nyesom Wike climbed into the governorship seat over dead bodies and over blood of human beings (another blab), what does that make of his hypocritical self who is presently a stooge for a man who emphatically told his kinsmen that monkeys and baboons will be soaked in blood if he looses elections in 2011.
A comment which led to the massacre of corpers in Northern states!!
Buhari climbed into power in 2015 over dead bodies and blood of hundreds of corpers!
What has he to say about it?
Furthermore, he speaks about the perverseness of the supreme court judgment.
When The Integrity Group petitioned the court against Rotimi Amaechi's nomination for ministerial appointment on the grounds of corruption, same sanctimonious Itse Sagay sat as a judge over the matter and ruled that Amaechi was discharged and acquitted of N70 billion!!
So much for a saint!!
If he is too concerned about the lacuna in the judiciary and he is patriotic about Rivers State, where was he when Amaechi grounded the judiciary in Rivers State for over a year?
Why was he silent then?
He vilifies the supreme court and brings the names of the justices to disrepute, while he watches as Buhari flaunts court orders, declare citizens guilty before proven innocent on National television, says that judiciary is his major headache!
And he says nothing in condemnation!!!
Shame••
The budget has turned into a harvest of yams by rats in the NASS, he is silent!!
Shame again!
It's sad to see men like Itse Sagay and Wole Soyinka reduce themselves to such level.
Prof. Itse Sagay will do well to remove the iroko from his eyes, before attempting to remove the speck in another's eyes!!
Shame again!!
